Quality of Life at Work and sustainable performance: An inescapable synergy

Abstract

In a global context marked by the rise of economic, social, and technological challenges, organizations face increasing pressure in a constantly evolving professional environment.This can lead to situations of discomfort, burnout, and a decline in productivity and sustainable performance. It is in this wake that researchers and professionals seek innovative methods to improve the quality of work life, which now represents a crucial element of sustainable performance for the organization. In other words, the long-term effectiveness and efficiency of the organization stem from contributions to various dimensions of the quality of work life, such as job satisfaction, individual and collective engagement, a healthy and secure work environment, etc. The main objective of this essay is to present a literature review on the concept of quality of work life and its dimensions, as well as on sustainable performance and its dimensions and criteria, to finally highlight the synergy between these two notions. This article provides a chronological overview of various works, theses, and articles addressing this issue, explained in summary tables, demonstrating a significant positive impact between quality of work life and sustainable performance.
