Abstract

Operational efficiency is the optimal use of resources such as time, human resources, equipment, inventory and money to carry out activities. Efficient organizations are more effective, agile and profitable. It remains a critical imperative for all entities and especially for Small and Medium Enterprises in an increasingly competitive and complex business environment where the management of these SMEs remains in the majority of cases intuitive and spontaneous without any control or steering, which affects their efficiency and will automatically impact their overall performance.

Moreover, performance monitoring and control have become more than ever central to the concerns of SMEs, which will enable them to regularly check and evaluate their ability to achieve their objectives using the least possible resources in order to improve the operational efficiency of these entities in a volatile environment.

This article looks at performance monitoring and control methods aimed at improving this efficiency. The results of this research are then presented, revealing the conclusions on the effectiveness of the methods studied. The discussion that follows interprets these theoretical results and explores their implications for SMEs.

In conclusion, our work provides an in-depth theoretical overview of control and performance management methods in SMEs. It contributes to the understanding of these essential practices and their influence on operational efficiency, while highlighting their relevance in a constantly changing environment.
